Partnerlink is an association of family-founded and managed road haulage and distribution companies located around the U.K. who exchange freight on a nightly basis. We work together on numerous successful logistics solutions as well as sharing industry knowledge and best-practices in each and every aspect of our businesses, including health and safety, staff training, operational excellence, IT, waste-reduction and purchasing.
The key concept underpinning Partnerlink is the efficient movement of freight within the U.K. in an environmentally-friendly manner. Partnerlink recognises the key role the transport industry must play in reducing harmful emissions and minimising the impact on our surroundings, to protect the environment and ensure its future sustainability. Efficient movement of freight is essential to ensure the future viability of all of our partners in an increasingly competitive industry.
This is achieved by ensuring that freight moves in as direct a line as possible from source to destination. We achieve this by running over 200 point-to-point routes each night, where freight is taken from the partner nearest to the collection point and transported directly to the partner nearest the ultimate destination. This eliminates unnecessary mileage and intermediate handling and results in lower emissions. On average, an item of freight travels 14% fewer miles through the Partnerlink system than it would through a hub-and-spoke system. All of our partners are committed to operating in as “green” a manner as possible with particular importance placed on fuel-efficient trucks and driver performance.
